This weekend we headed to Wembley to watch the latest Disney on Ice show – Disney on Ice 100 years of Magic 2017, this is a celebration of 100 years of Disney magic and certainly didn’t disappoint.
With over 50 Disney characters on stage, there was something for everyone. If you’ve not yet seen any of the Disney on Ice shows then I highly recommend you do. We took Emmy and Harry to see Disney On Ice – World’s of Enchantment in 2015 and again in 2016 to see Disney on Ice presents Frozen and they loved both shows so much. Harry preferred the first as it had all of his favourite characters in and Emmy was amazed that she was watching Frozen up close.
100 years of Magic see’s all your favourite characters hit the ice with little scenes from your favourite shows re-enacted on the ice.
It opens with the new Mouse Bounce warm up – you can learn this for yourselves by watching the YouTube video, Emmy and Harry have been practising at home prior to the show but got shy and refused to join in on the day, it was however lovely to watch the audience – old and young joining in and all having fun.
We had amazing seats for this show, our best yet which meant the children were up close and personal with the characters, without a restricted view meant they didn’t need to sit on our laps at all – always a bonus.
They were both glued throughout the whole show, as was my sister who came with us – her first visit to Disney on Ice and I think she is now as hooked as we all are.
The Mouse-ter of Ceremonies Mickey Mouse along with his sweetheart Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck and Goofy take to the ice to lead the show, they are trying to help Donald Duck decide upon a theme for the movie he wants to film. To help him they introduce all their Disney friends.
From Pinocchio to Frozen with Jiminy Cricket and Anna & Elsa, we saw Pinocchio becoming a real boy and Anna freezes Arendale and create Olaf.
We travelled to the heart of Africa to see Pumba & Timon and watched Simba & Nala fall in love.
Woody and Buzz Lightyear had their usual rocky start when Woody gets jealous of Andy’s new birthday present and the marching soldiers were rather fun to watch.We saw Belle fall in love with the Beast and watched him turn into the Prince after the curse was lifted.
Nemo hits the ice along with Dory and Crush to find Nemo’s father – playing out a few scenes from Finding Dory.
I think my favourite part of this show was the dancing Genie’s from Aladdin who were pretty amazing keeping in sync on the ice while spinning around.
This is a must-see show for all Disney fans and you will find yourself singing and bopping away in your seats – this goes for the adults and children alike.
I found Wembley to be a far more relaxed venue then the O2 where we have seen these shows previously, queuing to get in was far quicker and we were seated faster. We were also able to take our own food and drinks into the venue (the usual rules apply, no glass bottles or cans).
