Disney on Ice Dream Big Review

Disney on Ice Dream Big – Review

Posted on January 3, 2019January 3, 2019

Just after Christmas, we headed off as a family to the O2 for our annual Disney on Ice trip, this is something the kids look forward to every year and one I will never tire of.

This year’s production was a special one as it was celebrating 90 years of Mickey Mouse, who as always opened the show in high spirits.

As with all Disney on Ice performances the audience all gasp and become so excited when the show starts, however unlike many live shows this excitement doesn’t end and if you look around the audience at any given time during the show you’ll see smiles on everyone’s faces, children jumping around in their seats (or even dancing) and just as many adults singing along to the Disney songs as their children, and seeing the children all dressed up in their costumes is just the cutest.

This year’s show welcomed back the classics such as Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Cinderella, Ariel, Rapunzel, Alladin and of course Frozen which even years after it’s release is still a firm favourite with all.

A new and much-welcomed addition to the show was Moana, this was actually my favourite part of this year’s show and I do admit to singing louder than Emmy to the songs.

I personally think this show was my favourite so far, with far simplified set designs and a little less Frozen there really was something for everyone in this performance.

In previous year’s I have found the attention of the show has been far too Frozen focused, I can see why as it is still so popular but there are only so many variations of this they can do and if you are regular Disney on Ice goers then that part is always rather samey.  This year they shortened this to make room for other key Disney characters and I do think it worked better.

We took the children’s best friend Jamie/ with us on this occasion as it was Harry’s turn to choose a friend to take (Emmy has taken friends for the past 2 year’s) and he was mesmerised throughout the show.  Jamie is a year older than Emmy and absolutely loved it, all three children were singing away to nearly all of the songs and were all rather sad when it was over.

The Disney on Ice shows have a magical way of making you all feel like children again, they grip you and draw you in and try as you might not to enjoy, you’ll find yourself toe-tapping and bopping in your seats.

The Dream Big Disney on Ice tour actually ends on the 6th January with the last shows at the O2, so if you are quick you could just see this in all its glory, but if you can’t get to this one don’t worry as the next production The Wonderful World of Disney on Ice kicks off it’s spring tour at Wembley on 13th March. You can find tickets for both shows on the website disneyonice.co.uk

My kids would of loved this as children, I will have to wait for grandchildren now and take them!

“The Disney on Ice shows have a magical way of making you all feel like children again, they grip you and draw you in and try as you might not to enjoy, you’ll find yourself toe-tapping and bopping in your seats” – totally agree, same with Disney movies we watch every weekend:)
