Festive Food & Drinks

It’s almost Christmas and I honestly can’t wait now, it’s all about family time, presents, Santa and over indulging!  I say every year that I won’t eat all the chocolates, but who am I kidding?

Christmas is a time for not worrying about the diet and sharing with friends and family.

This year these are a few things you will find being indulged upon in our house – For the adults only!

Godminster Organic Brie Gift Selection

organicbrie

The Somerset cheesemaker based in Bruton, produces three creamy, organic bries. They are available as traditional, hand-rolled in crushed peppercorns and infused with garlic and chives.

The cheeses are produced over seven days using the traditional method.  The Godmister milk is ‘set’ using vegetarian rennet.  The soft curds are then hand-cut before going into individual moulds, which are hand-turned.  Finally the bries are moved into the drying rooms for five days to allow the flavour and creamy texture to develop.  They are then hand wrapped.

Available from www.godminster.com

Bancott Estate Sauvignon Gris

A perfect accompaniment to your Christmas starter – this works well with fish, bring on the smoked Salmon!

Priced at £10.49 and available from Tesco, Ocado and Asda.

Jacobs Creek Sparkling Shiraz

Good for post Christmas, drink in the evening – this red fizz is a nice accompaniment to have with your left over mince pies and to enjoy while unwinding after all the busy excitement of Christmas day.

Priced at £10.39 and available from Asda, Sainsbury’s and Waitrose.

Lindemans Bin 45 Cabernet Sauvignon

A medium to full bodied Cabernet Sauvignon that combines dark berry fruit with hints of chocolate and mint.  Drink with Christmas dinner or with cheese and biscuits later on in the evening.

Fletcher’s Ruby Port

A classic cheese board is one of the great pleasures of the Christmas season, and this delicious ruby port is the ideal accompaniment. Soft, smooth and fruity, it has a velvety sweetness that brings a round softness to creamy and crumbly Christmas cheeses, such as Wensleydale with cranberries.

Available from Aldi for £6.49

Champagne Veuve Monsigny by Philizot & Fils
Toast to the day in style with Aldi’s multi award-winning Champagne. Boasting aromas of baked apple, brioche and stone fruits, with gorgeous flavours of apples and red fruit, it’s the perfect way to kick start Christmas day.

Available from Aldi for £9.99

Elizabeth Shaw’s Chocolates

ElizabethShawchocolates

For a festive edition to the Christmas table we have these Elizabeth Shaw’s Mini Chocolate Crackers – 6 mini Christmas crackers which contain 2 flavours of their assorted chocolate crisps.  A nice after dinner treat, and Elizabeth Shaw’s Dark Chocolate Gingerbread crisps – combining wintery spices and gingerbread.

Clare

Hi, I'm Clare (Emmy's Mummy). A former Nanny and Mother of 2 - Emmy (born February 2010) and Harry (born October 2012). We are Essex based and share our adventures and misadventures of a busy crazy life.

About Me

Hi, I’m Clare – Mum to Emmy and Harry, ex-nanny and the writer behind Emmy’s Mummy. Based in Essex, I share honest tales of family life, parenting teens, top tips from a former nanny and our love of adventures, food, and UK staycations. We’re always up for exploring – whether it’s a trip into London, a caravan break, or just getting outdoors with a picnic. This blog blends my nannying experience with the everyday chaos of raising tweens and teens. Thanks for joining us!
