Hanging Onto The Last Of The Summer Wear

It’s impossible to notice that summer has well and truly past us and we are now having to do the morning school runs with boots and coats on and occasionally an umbrella.

I love this time of year where I can pull on cosy boots and thick jumpers teamed with jeans or leggings. There is nothing better when it’s getting colder than wrapping up warmly and I do so hate being cold.

That said I refuse to kick off my summery wear just yet and have been known to change my clothes mid afternoon if the sun has come out in time for the school run.

When that sun does finally shine I am clinging onto Sandals and by layering women’s tops over each other to keep a little warmer, I am successfully managing to cling onto the summer look for a little bit longer.

My favourite new item I refuse to give up just yet is a cute blouse come bomber jacket which in the summer I was wearing over vest tops, now it is cooler I have started to team it up with a long sleeve tight fitting dark top to give a splash of colour which of course helps to brighten those darker days.

Do you have a favourite summery item of clothing which you refuse to let go of just yet?

I really do love the layered look which means Autumn/Winter is here, long sleeved tops can be worn under short sleeved ones to create a whole new look, thick tights can be teamed up with shorts or even David Nieper Dresses for example can styled with long boots and thick chunky cardigans are my ultimate must have item. I much prefer these over coats for as long as I can.

I’m sure I am not the only one who clings onto summer for as long as possible. After all we get so little of it anyway that I feel I’ve hardly had any wear out of a good portion of my wardrobe.

The children are of course the same, they would happily wear shorts and T-shirts all the time given the chance, only last week I caught Emmy trying to wear a short all in one combo for a walk into town – it was raining and rather windy but she didn’t care – of course I made her change and then purchased some new leggings for her when I realised the issue was she had grown yet again and had none to fit. She also now has some new tights so she can keep wearing her favourite shirts and Harry has some new hoodies and a new body warmer for those inbetween weather days.
