Having Fun On Holiday While You’re On A Budget

Posted on August 20, 2026

**Collaborative post**

Having fun on holiday is something that you set out to do, of course. Nobody books a holiday with the intention of things going wrong, or thinking that things are not going to work out and that it’s going to be a waste of time. Of course they don’t, because that would be silly. But there are still a lot of people who don’t do the things that need to be done in order to have the best possible time, and this is the problem.

In this article, we’re going to help. Down below, we’re going to be diving into some of the things that you can do to ensure that you have fun while you’re on holiday, even when you’re on a budget. So, if you would like to find out more, feel free to continue reading.

Plan The Travel Itself

The first thing that you’re going to need to do is make sure that you are planning the trip itself. How are you getting to your destination? Are you going on a road trip? Are you going to fly? Are you going to take a train, or maybe a boat? What’s the best way to get to where you are going, taking into account that you have children?

Think about this, and also come up with ways that you can make this experience just a little easier for you. Take activities for them to do, books for them to read, devices if they’re going to want to watch something. Despite what some people say, watching tablets, etc on a plane is not a bad thing for kids.

Set A Budget And Stick To It

Another thing that we’re going to point out is that you should be setting a budget and then sticking to it. It’s the part where you stick to it that people struggle with though, and you need to be doing your best. What you do not want to happen is that you’re going to spend all of your money in the first few days, and then you’re going to struggle moving forward.

So, instead you need to ensure that you’re planning out what to do while you’re away. Plan some fun activities, and then you can also look up free things to do in Cleveland or wherever you are to spread out the fun. Spend some days doing things you need to pay for, and others doing free things to keep the cost down.

Eat In Sometimes

Finally, a lot of the money that you take is going to be spent on food while you are away, and as such you want to try eating in sometimes. Go to the store and get some groceries so that you can cook meals in your accommodation, as it will save you a lot of money. In fact, you probably don’t realise just how much it’s going to save you, but you will.

We hope that you have found this article helpful, and now see some of the things that you should do to ensure that you can have fun on holiday while you’re on a budget.
