How to Keep Your Dog Happy and Healthy

Posted on May 20, 2021June 3, 2022

**Collaborative post**

Most would agree that their pets are not only their friend but an integral part of the family. Pets have a way of lighting up one’s life and making you feel loved and appreciated – this is because they don’t judge and love you unconditionally, which is why some people would prefer them to human beings. Even though having a pet is fun and makes you feel a little less lonely at times, it is also a big responsibility, seeing as you’re in charge of the little guy’s overall existence and wellbeing. The truth is that even though a pet doesn’t ask much of you as their owner, it is still essential to go the extra mile and ensure you do everything in your power to keep them going for as long as possible. That said, here are some tips on how to keep your pets happy and healthy, even though you’re already the best person alive in their eyes!

Exercise

Granted, some dogs would be content just chilling on your lap the entire day, but most would think they’re in heaven if you took them out for a run every now and then. They love exploring, and being able to do just that with you by their side would be the cherry on top of an already ideal situation. Try taking a brisk walk from time to time with your pup to allow them to see the outside world and get out of the house for a change – you could even go to a pet-friendly park and spend some quality time together. If your dog is your best friend, then you’ll probably love the outing just as much when seeing how delighted he is by the fun adventure. Some dogs, especially larger breeds, are built to be highly active, so taking them somewhere they can let loose and get all their energy out could be just what the doctor ordered.

Good food

There are hundreds of different brands of dog foods out there, all with a specific claim to precisely what it is that makes them “the best.” One can sometimes forget that the food you buy for your dog is what he gets for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, so it needs to be rich in vitamins and nutrients to ensure he gets all he needs to stay in tip-top shape, as well as to add weight on your dog if needed.  You can easily establish which pet foods are worth buying by doing a bit of research, and Pure Life may just be your best bet when it comes to a complete meal that has it all. The most important reason why getting the best food for your dog is that the compounds contained within are crucial for bone health, digestive health, and maintaining a robust immune system.

Shots

Ensuring your pet receives his vaccinations is crucial to ensure they don’t fall victim to any major illnesses like canine distemper, heartworms, or other ailments that could cause severe complications. It may not seem necessary at first, but playing it safe and taking the preventative route will never leave you with regret but only give you peace of mind knowing your dog is well equipped to handle viruses and bacteria. Vets advise that after taking your pet for his first three to four vaccinations, it would be sufficient to have them vaccinated once a year to ensure they have the proper antibodies to fight off illnesses.

Pamper

Even though your pet isn’t human, they deserve to be pampered from time to time. Your dog is probably the purest, most loving companion you’ll ever have, and a little tender love and care will do nothing but good for them! There are a few ways you can show your pet some love, from a cute plush toy to some dog biscuits, maybe even a tasty gravy over their food; use your imagination and make them feel like the luckiest canine in the world. The truth is that your dog would be perfectly happy with nothing but your attention, but going the extra mile once in a while could be the perfect way to say thank you to them for being the best dog anyone could ask for.

Studies have shown that pets have a way of easing depression, assisting people with learning disabilities, and making one feel less alone – this is because their one purpose in life is to love you and make you happy, which is why they deserve nothing but the best. You probably already know this, so go out there and give your dog some love and good food!
