It’s not easy running an online business. Aside from the competition mounted by other businesses, you also need to contend with the increasing level of distrust amongst internet users, who are more and more sceptical when it comes to giving a digital company their cash. So it’s important to build trust between you and your potential customers. While you should be telling the people how trustworthy you are, there’s only so much that that approach can do.
When it comes to building trust, it’s best to let your existing customers do the bulk of the work: people are more inclined to believe good things about a company if they come from people who don’t have a vested interest in the company’s success. Below, we take a look at a few ways how you can use customer reviews to boost your business.
Ask For Reviews
You can’t do much with reviews if you don’t have any. Now, people do, of course, leave reviews on websites across the web, but that’ll only account for a small fraction of your customers. Most people won’t show this initiative. But if they loved your service and products, then there’ll likely be happy to leave a review — you just need to ask. In the aftermath of the order completion, send an email asking for their thoughts. You won’t receive a 100% reply rate, or anywhere close to it, but you’ll get a few — and a few is all you need.
Publish on Website
Now that you’ve got some reviews, it’s time to put them to work. They won’t do your business any good if you’re just keeping them to yourself! Look at publishing your reviews on your website. They shouldn’t be overwhelming or too in your face — a small ticker feed somewhere on the page with all the positive words your customers have said will work. They’ll let new customers know that you’re focused on making sure everyone has a great experience with your business.
Newsletters and Social Media
It’s not only on your website where you should show off your customer reviews. They also make excellent content for your newsletters and social media posts. If you receive an especially glowing testimonial, include on your Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook pages, as well as your newsletter. It’s easy to do. Just learn how to screenshot on Mac or PC, and post it as a photo. This way, you’ll be building up the credibility of your website in the wider web, too.
Monitor Review Sites
As we mentioned earlier, there are people who post on review websites — even though they’re only a fraction of your customers, there can still be a lot of them. As such, it’s important that you’re monitoring the websites where you’re likely to receive reviews and actively respond to them. There’ll be times when all you need to do is thank your customer for glowing feedback. At other times, you may need to address negative feedback; this is just as important, as it shows you care about the user experience.
