LOOM Footwear Review

Keeping dry in all weather with LOOM Footwear Review

Posted on September 17, 2021February 18, 2022

Disclaimer: I received these shoes in exchange for this post, as always, all thoughts and opinions are my own

I always say that there is no such thing as bad weather, only inappropriate clothing choices. That isn’t always the case though as at times we have to confirm and wear certain clothing such as for school – the kids have to wear a uniform, certain shoes and have the correct bags etc.

This doesn’t always make the school runs fun for any of us. When it is dry it’s nice but add in a school run downpour and it can make life rather miserable – and it’s almost an unwritten law that if it’s going to rain it will do on the school run.

When this happens, Harry goes into school in his Wellyboots and changes into his school shoes in the classroom. Emmy on the other hand, being in secondary school isn’t keen to do this and as she walks into school her feet get soaked.

Thankfully, we were sent some new waterproof sneakers which have solved this issue for her – they are actually mine but I felt sorry for her when she sent me a text last week saying her feet were soaked and her socks and shoes soaked through. Having to spend all day with wet feet really isn’t nice at all, so we have decided to share these LOOM waterproof trainers, after all, I can change when I get home – she has to spend all day with wet feet.

I will wear them myself, but on wet school days, Emmy can wear them to school and change into her school shoes once there. The joys of your 11-year-old daughter having the same size feet as myself I guess.

How are these different from normal trainers?

Well, have you ever stepped in a puddle wearing trainers? It’s not recommended is it….you’ll not have dry feet if you fully submerge your whole foot into that puddle.

Well, I tried just that with these LOOM trainers and my feet and socks stayed dry. Completely dry!

Loom sneakers are completely waterproof and keep feet dry even in full submersion. They also feature shock-repellant and temperature-regulated material, making this sneaker an all-terrain, all-season shoe with the feel and levity of a running shoe.

Loom Footwear utilises a few key materials to achieve its aim of making its shoe so versatile. These include a Merino wool interior, an H2-Go waterproof layer, and an Excelcast sole.

Merino wool is known in the textile industry as the highest-performance fabric of the 21st century. It is as soft as cashmere and as strong as leather. It’s able to regulate temperature to keep feet warm in the winter and cool in the summer. And, it’s antimicrobial, making Loom immune from athlete’s foot, odor, and infection-causing bacteria.

The exterior is formed with four layers of breathable, moisture-wicking, and waterproof material. It’s extremely light and easy to clean thanks to its ability to repel liquids and grime.

Our thoughts on these shoes – LOOM Footwear Review

I’ve never really been someone to wear trainers, I never find them all that comfortable, I’m more of a flip-flops or boots kind of girl. That said, these are like wearing your most comfy pair of slippers outdoors and it almost feels like walking on air. I often find my feet overheat when wearing trainers but not with these ones – even after completing over 16,000 steps a day I still don’t feel like my feet are at all sweaty as they often get in these types of shoes.

These have laces, but they are more of a pull-on type of shoe as they are supposed to be tight fitting to help keep them watertight, and the laces just help to secure them.

They have a fully padded in-sole which helps to make them shock absorbent – perfect for jumping around, running and keeping up with the long walks.

We have jumped in puddles, walked in complete downpours, and even sprayed them with the hose pipe and can confirm that we have still had dry feet afterward – maybe not ankles after the hosepipe but the shoes remained watertight and dry.

Myself and Emmy really do love these shoes, and I think I need to invest in a second pair as it’s going to be hard reclaiming these back from Emmy when it rains….or even when it doesn’t.

They are available in Black and White and are currently on offer for £71.71.
