British Weather Ready With Waterproof Jackets From Dare 2B #Review

Nothing says school holidays are here more than the sudden change in weather. From a heatwave all last week to flooding and torrential rain just at the start of the holidays – I’m not at all surprised, we are in the UK after all so relying on good weather for the kid’s being off of school would have been rather silly.

We all hope the weather will be good, however, we probably all currently have sun cream, sun hats an umbrella, and raincoats in our handbags/rucksacks currently. There is nothing more British than being prepared for all weather eventualities when getting ready for a day out or packing for your Staycation.

Dare 2B has the kids covered with their range of lightweight yet very waterproof rain jackets for kids.

Emmy and Harry have had the chance to really put theirs to the test, and while their feet and trousers may have gotten wet, their bodies were warm and dry in a very heavy downpour.

We were sent 2 Kids’ In The Lead II jackets. These lightweight jackets are hard-wearing, breathable and can be packed away into the smallest of bags just in case of rain.

The In The Lead II Waterproof Jacket is a versatile mountain jacket that stops driving winds, sidewards rain and wet snow with a tough-wearing ARED 20 20 waterproof and breathable performance shell.

The soft stretch fabric moves and breathes for total comfort out on the trails. It can be worn alone for summer showers or teamed with a jumper or a fleece for all year-round wear.

Emmy opted for the Black Ebony Grey colour – this is perfect for her to team with her bright coloured clothing but also suitable to wear to secondary school come September where they have to wear plain coloured jackets/coats. It has a very handy inside zipped pocket for keeping her phone and house keys safely secured. Emmy is wearing an aged 14 jacket so she has a little room under to wear a jumper or school blazer if needed. She usually wears an adults size XS or size 8 in adults clothes.

This has a little growing room left and due to the adjustable elasticated cuffs, we can do those up to make a closer fitting if she wants. I really love that she chose this colour as it goes with all her clothing choices, and once it no longer fits her I can pass down to Harry to wear.

Harry opted for the same jacket in the Petrol Blue Methyl Blue colour and I chose age 11-12 for him. This also allows plenty of growing room for him. I did try the 9-10 size but ended up returning as it was a perfect fit – this isn’t a bad thing but it didn’t allow room for a jumper underneath and no growing room either. He usually wears age 10 clothes.

He really loves this jacket as it can but folded up and put into his school bag – he hates wearing a coat but I do try to insist that he has one in his bag for when the forecast is for rainy days, and the fact it has zipped pockets is a huge bonus for him – he loves to stuff his pockets full of toys for our days out but gets upset if he thinks they could be lost, so zipping them in securely is a huge plus.

As these are so lightweight it means they dry out very quickly too which as any parent knows is a great thing – a quick shake outside to remove the extra droplets and far less puddling from wet clothes on the floor once they are hung to dry.
