Staying in a Hotel

Airbnb offers a cheap solution to tourists looking for inexpensive accommodation plus storage unit options while exploring London. You can keep your travel luggage at your Airbnb residence if your host gives you permission to do so.

Of course, this would depend on a variety of reasons, so it is always a good option to get in touch with your Airbnb host regarding this matter. This solution to your travel luggage problems is safe and might not even cost you extra money.

Another solution is to find a premium accommodation option – you’ll be spoilt for choice with some of the marvelous aparthotels in London. You’ll find them dotted around London’s main attractions making them an ideal choice to easily get around the city.

Luggage Storage Unit Options at Railway Stations

As most of the tourists travel by train in London, there are luggage storage options available at all the major railway stations through services such as Luggage Hero, Excess Baggage, etc.

Storage options at Train Stations are popular as viable university student storage facilities for students who are visiting London on short trips. Different storage unit options at each station have their own timings and rates which are summarized below.

Victoria Coach Station

  1. Left Luggage Storage

You can find the Left Luggage storage units at Victoria Coach Station near Gate 0, inside the ticket office. The rent of a locker for 3 hours is £5, for 6 hours it is £7.5. However, if you are renting out a locker for 24 hours, you will only have to pay £10. Furthermore, every 24 hours additional will add £6 to the bill.

Left Luggage Storage is open from 8.30 am in the morning to 10.00 pm in the evening, 7 days a week.

  1. Excess Baggage Storage

Excess Baggage Storage lockers can be found on Platform 8 of the Victoria Station. The prices are a bit high as compared to the Left Luggage Storage. For up to 3 hours, you will have to pay around £7.5 and for up to 24 hours, the rate is £12.50.

Excess Baggage Storage opens at 7 in the morning and closes at midnight every day from Monday to Sunday.

Charing Cross Station

Only Excess Baggage Storage is available at the Charing Cross Station. Opening hours, days, and all the prices are similar to all the Excess Baggage Storage Units scattered across London.

Travel Storage Options at London Airports

Airports are where most of the people enter London. So, all the airports in London have several storage unit options available to facilitate the tourists. Airport storage units are highly sought after because one can easily store extra stuff and take it when going back from the same airport.

Heathrow Airport

Excess Baggage Storage handles the storage units at Heathrow Airport. You can book a storage unit for as long as 90 days. Other facilities such as pre-booking your unit, or drop-off to a certain location are also available for additional charges.

They operate from 5 am to 11 pm daily except for the unit at terminal 4 which opens 30 mins later i.e., at 5.30 am.

Gatwick Airport

Gatwick Airport has storage unit options available at both terminals. The one on the south terminal is open 24 hours 7 days a week while the one on the North terminal opens daily from 5 in the morning to 10 in the evening.

London City Airport

Left Luggage operates the travel storage unit options at the London City Airport. The process involves logging your bags at the information desk. After that, you need to take it to the Security Zone for storage.

The facility has variable timings as follows:

Mon-Fri 5am-10pm

Sat 5am-1pm

Sun 11am-10.20pm

It costs £10 to store one item for 24 hours at the London City Airport.

Stansted Airport

Stansted Airport has storage facilities operated by Air Wise. They are open 24 hours a week and have flexible pricing depending on the size of the item you are keeping.

Luton Airport

Luton Airport has an always-open storage facility, so there is nothing to worry about pertaining to timings. The pricing at the Luton Airport Storage units varies with respect to the timing of storage.

Other Travel Storage Unit Options

In addition to these storage services available at the Train stations and Airports, there are several other options at different coffee shops, landmarks, and restaurants all across London. Some of them are listed below.

Stasher

Stasher has university student storage options near almost all the major locations such as Kings Cross, The Big Ben, The British Museum, etc. The best thing about Stasher is that they are open 24/7. You can go pick up your stuff any time you want without having to worry about it.

As a student travelling in London, Stasher offers a safe university student storage option at an extremely affordable price point so that you can explore London tension-free.

Luggage Hero

Luggage Hero university student storage facility is available at more than 120 shops across London. What makes Luggage Hero unique is that each item placed at their storage is insured for a whopping £2200. In case of any unfortunate event, you will be getting the highest compensation possible.

The prices offered by Luggage Hero are very light on the pocket. All you have to pay is a one-time baggage handling fee of £2 and the standard fee of £1 per hour for as long as you store the item. You can book a place online without paying anything in advance.

Nannybag

Nannybag is similar to Stasher in many ways. Just like Stasher, their storage units are also open 24/7 and can be booked online without any payments. Your items will be insured for £1500 for any accident. The rate is £6 for the first 24 hours, £4 for the next 24 hours and similar so on.

Travel Luggage Storage Option in Museums

A common point of attraction for all the tourists visiting London is museums. Therefore, several free and paid luggage storage options exist at museums and other popular attractions. Most museums have cloakrooms that ask for donations in return for luggage storage services.
