Review: Butternut 3 storey dolls house from Toyz World

Emmy is a typical girl, if there is actually such a thing.  She is happiest when she is sitting either drawing or playing with her toys.  She isn’t however one to play alone, she needs leading in her play and someone to sit with her and join in.

Now of course I do love to do this, however as a Mum of two children, I do need to spread my time between them both equally and Harry also needs some one-on-one time too.

One thing she will happily sit with and play alone is a dolls house, in fact she hates it if you try to join her in this playtime.

Recently she was sent a Butternut wooden dolls house and she was over the moon.  Thankfully she was happy to wait a day to play with this as it comes in MANY pieces and requires an adult to build it before play.  I can honestly say this isn’t something you want to be building while your child is waiting next to you to play, while it did only take around 35 minutes to build, there are so many screws and small fixings you need little hands to leave alone so you can concentrate. 

Putting this together was actually pain free as all the wooden panels are numbered with a sticker and the instructions are simple easy to follow pictures, showing the numbered piece you need and the screw/fixing type you need.  The only hard part was when I raced ahead of myself and missed a few steps and had to redo.



The screws are coloured on the heads so they blend into the paintwork when it is all together.  Once built it is a solid house, very sturdy and robust and can withstand a whirlwind Harry who likes to play heavy handed.

I have a real love for wooden dolls houses, I also have loved ever since I was a child, there is something magical about having a little house you can create stories with, and make it’s inhabitants have adventures.

Emmy seems to have this love too – she can often be found putting the dolls to bed or even into the bath.

The house consists of 3 storeys and has 5 rooms (Bathroom, Kitchen, Front Room, Study/Library area, Bedroom) and also has a roof garden area.

This doesn’t come with any people/figures, thankfully Emmy already has a smaller dolls house so has same people, and it is also a perfect size for sylvanian families.

I personally would have liked this to have been a lot less pink as I really am not a fan of all pink toys however both children are really taken with this.  Another thing was that some of the paint on the arms of the sofa was missing when I unpacked this – the sofa was bubble wrapped so had been packaged up this way.

Harry seems just as taken with this as Emmy is and plays with it loads when she is out and now back at school.
