Why Becoming A Mum Is Such A Gift

Posted on May 24, 2021

**Collaborative post**

Whether you believe in a higher power or not, there’s no denying that becoming a mum feels like a gift. One day, you’re just going about your adult life as normal. And then the next, you’ve somehow managed to bring a little bundle of joy into the world. It seems utterly miraculous, but it happens. From a single pair of cells, an entire baby grows. It makes modern technology look trivial by comparison.

In this post, we take a look at why becoming a mum feels like a gift from God. Here’s why it’s so worthwhile even if it is sometimes stressful.

You Create Unforgettable Memories

Before you have a child, you can sometimes feel like you’re going through the motions. Yes, important stuff happens in your life. But you don’t have the same connectedness to your relationships or the people around you.

After you have kids, though, you “stir the pot,” adding new lives to your life that act in unexpected and innovative ways. Kids give you wonderful memories and help to make adult years feel more joyful. In years to come, you can look back at the times that you spent together and reminisce on a life well spent.

You Grow As A Person

Before you had a child, you held the view that it was mainly just something that you had to do as part of regular adult life. But as you get into it, it becomes much more than that. Career and money goals often seem much more secondary than they once did as the experience of raising children begins to change you. At first, the differences are subtle. But then, over time, they grow and grow until eventually the sacrifice of time and money is worth it.

You also see the value of practices such as egg donation and why some couples choose to do it. Sharing the gift of a child with other couples is one of the greatest things that you can do with your life.

Young couples are usually close to each other. But they don’t bond in the same way as a mother does to her child. Soon after pregnancy, hormones begin to act to bring you closer and closer to your baby in a way that you haven’t experienced before in your life. Looking at your child and tending to their needs doesn’t get old. The more you do it, the closer you become.

The great thing about this process is that the child can feel it too. They get a sense early on that mummy loves them unconditionally and that they are safe. As the child grows up, they learn to sense your emotions and can play along. In many cases, young kids can be the best comforters, especially if they learn from you directly.

In conclusion, therefore, becoming a mum is a gift. It affects you on every conceivable level from the physical to the spiritual. And it changes you in profound ways you never expected before you fell pregnant.
