**Collaborative post**

There is no getting around it, education is important when it comes to raising kids. The good news is you can find some of the most effective ways to boost your child’s education in the post below. Read on to find out what they are.

Read To Them Every Night

One of the simplest ways you can help to boost your child’s education is to make reading to them each night a bedtime habit. In this way, you can ignite a passion for reading and stories in them that can help speed up and sustain their educational achievement.

After all, the better, and sooner your child can read the easier they will find school, and reading to them each night should help them read sooner. Especially if you take turns in reading pages, and then when they have outgrown having a bedtime story read to them, you let them read to you instead. The icing on the cake is that bedtime storytime is a wonderful way to connect to your child each day too, which should help improve your relationship.

Invest In Stem Toys

If your kids are anything like mine, they probably have a whole cupboard full of toys. Yet, not all playthings are created equal. Some have a higher educational value than others because they encourage creative thinking, or familiarise your child with specific subjects early on.

What I am talking about here are STEM toys, or toys that are designed to educate your child about Science, technology, and engineering. The good news is there is a whole range of STEM toys that are not only educational but lots of fun to play with as well. Some of the most popular of these have to be LEGO bricks (& DUPLO) which can be used to build just about anything your child can imagine. For older kids, they even make a robot range which not only teaches your child how to build and solve problems but allows them to learn the basics of programming too.

Consider Their Choice For School Carefully

Another thing you must consider carefully if you want to boost your child’s education is their choice of school. This is because the right educational environment can make all the difference to your child’s happiness and educational progress.

Different school environments will suit different individuals so it’s crucial to
weigh up all the options in your area. For instance, your child may be much happier and better catered for at a prestigious private school that offers not only a high quality of teaching for traditional subjects. But that also focuses on additional activities such as dance, swimming, and music as well for a fully balanced educational experience.

However, not all children will thrive in a private school environment and may prefer to attend a state school. If this is the case for your child then you must make the effort to tour the state schools that are on offer at their open evenings and compare what each institution has on offer.

Limit Their Screen Time

Screens seem all-pervasive these days, but if you want to ensure your child’s educational success, they need to be just as proficient away from screens as they are on them. That’s not to say that no screens at all is the best route, because your child will need to know how to navigate the digital landscape if they are to succeed in education and beyond. However, also fostering some independence from screens and their usage is a good idea, as it can help promote self-regulation, real work practical skills, and face-to-face social skills.

Encourage Their Passions

Parents want their children to have successful, comfortable lives when they grow up, and because of this, it’s all too easy to focus on the educational subjects that seem like they will provide this. Indeed, for a long time, many parents have been most concerned about their child’s educational achievement in subjects such as English, Maths, and Science.
Now, that is not to say that achievement in these areas isn’t important because it very much is.

However, it’s also important to encourage your child in the things they love and gravitate towards such as art, dance, PE, or even gaming. Indeed, we live in a rapidly changing world, and it’s incredibly hard to predict what type of jobs will be most valued in the future. Additionally, there are many more benefits from encouraging your child in areas that they enjoy, including improving your relationship as they feel supported, as well as providing them with a good foundation for mental health, as doing activities that we enjoy regularly can help fill our cup and give us the energy to do more challenging things.
