Ariel Vanity Bath Set

Ariel’s Vaniety bath set – Review

Posted on August 14, 2013July 14, 2018

I had high hopes for this review if I’m honest as I’m struggling to get Emmy into the bath at the moment.  It requires her to sit still for longer than 5 minutes and she then knows it’s almost bed time so fights and argues – OK I do win but it’s a battle every single night.

Disney Princess Ariel’s Vanity Set from Jakks Pacific.

The idea is to let young girls (around ages 3-6 years) recreate their favourite Little Mermaid moment while in the bath.

The set is designed like a vanity unit which sticks to the side of the bath or to the tiles with the suction cups.  It has a large mirror for Emmy to see herself putting on her make up.

The set comes with a Lipstick, Blusher and Eyeshadow and a pretend perfume bottle.  This is easy to put on and washes off with water.

Now while I thought Emmy would love this is beyond me, it must have been a mad Mummy moment I’m afraid.

She happily puts on the make up, loves it in fact, she then proceeds to try to put it on me, Harry the dog and the bathroom tiles and mirror!!

OK, not the end of the world really as it can be washed off – Harry really isn’t keen though.

However the part which has caused MAJOR dramas is the washing it off.

Basically she won’t!

It has caused major melt downs, screaming, crying, hitting and the worst behaviour I have ever seen from Emmy EVER!

WHY?  Well you try giving something to a 3 year old and then basically 10 minutes later taking it way again – it will always end the same in my eyes.

She doesn’t understand that this is a toy and the make-up needs taking off again after she has finished playing.

She has her own make-up kit (play make-up) which she is allowed to use when we go out so she sees this as being the same.

For 3 nights in a row she went to bed with lipstick, blusher and eyeshadow on.

I lost my battle with getting it off of her again and now this toy has been put away – she isn’t allowed it any more as I can not deal with the tantrums.

For many girls this would be a great bath toy however for us it just doesn’t work.

Oh dear I think my girls would do the same, Izzy would decorate everywhere as well as herself so all make up is hidden (picture white new walls and my fav expensive lipstick) x

Gosh sounds like added stress you didn't need at bath time 🙁 back to the drawing board for bath time distraction then……
