Disney on Ice – Passport to Adventure Review

Posted on December 27, 2017December 27, 2017

It’s now become our family tradition that over the Christmas period we go to see Disney on Ice at The O2, we always choose to drive in and park in one of the many car parks because it is far easier for us and when the kids are tired after the show there is then no whinging about waiting for trains in the cold.

Previously this has been before Christmas but with illnesses, prior engagements and basically just a lack of time we decided that trying to squeeze in before wasn’t going to happen so we chose after Christmas to give us something to look forward to instead. The lull in between Christmas and New year can be long so this was perfect for filling a gap.

The show this year is called Passport to Adventure and begins once again with a warm up to get the audience in the mood for fun and frolics with the fabulously fun Fit to Dance featuring Zootropolis characters. The kids all jumped off their seats to join in with the moves before they were treated to favourite songs with their favourite Disney characters.

Watching the children in the audience, more then half of which are dressed up, its hard to tell who’s having the most fun…..Disney is something which captures both adults and children alike, and there really isn’t anyone here who isn’t on their feet joining in with the fun, and perhaps the very rare few aren’t still for long egged on by the kids!

Harry is always bouncing in his seat with excitement when his favourites Mickey and Goofy hit the ice and he was in fits of giggles when goofy lived up to his name, clowning around and falling over, Harry really does love a bit of slap stick comedy and was crying with laughter every time.

On the edge of his seat for the whole show

All the kids favourite movies once again come to life during this production, favourites from previous years such as Frozen, The Lion King and Ariel with brand new characters emerging on the ice with Peter Pan for the first time.

Having seen the Christmas Disney on Ice shows for the past 2 years this was my favourite addition to the show, with Tinkerbell, Wendy, John and Michael hitting the air to fly into a iced Neverland, the lost boys and Captain Hook and his crew all taking to the ice to entertain us all and of course a performance of Pan wouldn’t be complete without the Croc which Harry found hilarious.

Dancers are finely choreographed to pull off all range of moves, making up for any sparser set pieces – the set and scenery changes really are amazing within these shows and it makes me want to head back to the ice to resume the ice staking lessons I had while in school – we will definitely be hitting the ice as a family next week!

Emmy took a friend with her again this year and both girls were mesmerised throughout the performance, singing along to all their favourites – it probably goes without saying that Frozen was their favourite part of the performance.

The show runs all the way through until 30th December, for tickets and further information do check out the website.

We now really can’t wait for next year to see what new features and characters will be hitting the ice in 2018!

Disclaimer: We received tickets to the show in exchange for this post.
