How to plan the perfect kids’ sleepover

Posted on September 17, 2019September 17, 2019

**Collaborative post**

Planning a sleepover can be more stressful than the sleepover itself and every parent goes through it when it’s their turn to host. They’re a major part of your child’s social development as the grow into the sociable animals they’re bound to become. Ultimately, it’s all part of having fun with people of their age!

We’ve put together some helpful tips for you to think about when it comes to organizing and executing the best sleepover possible for your kid and their friends.

Plan the food

The food is one of the most important but also time-consuming parts of the sleepover. You’ll need to plan their dinner and breakfast, ensuring it’s both tasty but also healthy as the last thing you want is a telling off by one of the other parents because you fed them something unhealthy. A hearty breakfast in the morning is a great way of rounding things off and gives them something to tell their parents about – so maybe shape their toast?

Make sure they sleep well

You need to make sure they actually get some sleep on the sleepover, so you need to make sure their bedroom is ready. There’s a great range of Kids Beds from Bed Guru that will make your kids bedroom look brilliant and gives them somewhere to crash after all the fun. You want to find a bed with additional storage, so you have somewhere to keep all the clutter, leaving the floor clean and tidy and spacious, giving them room to play.

Fun time

You’ll have to make sure your kids are kept busy so they’re not full of energy when they go to bed. This can be anything from hide and seek around the house, a movie night in front of the TV or a sports activity in the garden. Kids love having fun and if there’s nothing to do they’ll get bored and are more likely to distract you and pester you.

Clare

Hi, I'm Clare (Emmy's Mummy). A former Nanny and Mother of 2 - Emmy (born February 2010) and Harry (born October 2012). We are Essex based and share our adventures and misadventures of a busy crazy life.

About Me

Hi, I’m Clare – Mum to Emmy and Harry, ex-nanny and the writer behind Emmy’s Mummy. Based in Essex, I share honest tales of family life, parenting teens, top tips from a former nanny and our love of adventures, food, and UK staycations. We’re always up for exploring – whether it’s a trip into London, a caravan break, or just getting outdoors with a picnic. This blog blends my nannying experience with the everyday chaos of raising tweens and teens. Thanks for joining us!
