We’ve seen the advertisement’s on Nick Jr recently for the brand new TV animation Puffin Rock which has been co-produced by Penguin.

Puffin Rock will be launching in the UK on 18th May on Nickelodeon Jnr at 6.30pm.  Aimed at 3-5 year olds, Puffin Rock follows the adventures of puffling Oona, her little brother Baba and their family and friends in a gorgeous and wild Irish Island.  It is narrated by Chris O’Dowd (The IT Crowd, Bridesmaids) and Oona is voiced by 11 year old Kate McCafferty (ex Irish Dancing world champion)

Puffin Rock will be slotting in beautifully into the 6.30pm bedtime slot and definitely ties into our calm down period before heading upstairs for stories.

Harry has been rather keen to see this and we had already set to record ready however we have been very lucky and have been treated to preview screening of an episode of this new show called “Pond Life”.

In this episode Oona wants to go out to play however it has been raining and his Mum has asked him to not only look after his little brother but to try to keep him clean at the same time, and as you know all little ones are instantly attracted to mud and mess so it’s not an easy job.

As a parent I actually enjoyed watching this with the children, it is not only a cute and fun short programme but it is educational too.  This episode seems the Puffins exploring and learning about pond-life, learning about the life cycle of tadpoles and even rescuing some stranded tadpoles too.

Harry really liked the characters and their cute voices – he tried mimicking them a few times so they must have appealed and he sat glued throughout and for those of you who know or have met Harry will know this is very rare.

We will be ready and waiting for the show to start on 18th May at 6.30pm.

Here is a trailer of the new show:
