Steamed Pumpkin Soup recipe + Hotpoint Steam Blender Review

Last week I took delivery of a product which I have been longing for a while now.  I was kindly sent a Hotpoint Steam Blender.  The timing was perfect as the cold weather has set in and we enjoy a LOT of homemade soups, one of our favoutites is included in this post: steamed Pumpkin Soup recipe.
Of course with it being Halloween this week we have had to try this out with Pumpkin Soup, and I will never make soup in a pan again.
Hotpoint Steam Blender, Review, Multifunctional blender
The Hotpoint Steam Blender is a Multifunctional Blender with four speeds and a pulse option BUT it is also a steamer too!  By filling the tank on the side with water you can use this machine as a steamer.  Inside the glass jug you have a metal basket which sits snuggly inside – to steam vegetables you dice them to around 2cm’s and pop them into the basket, put on the lid and press the on button, the timer automatically comes on at 15 minutes but you can turn change this by using the up and down arrows.  By using the basket you keep the vegetables away from the condensation which builds up in the bottom of the jug.
For Soups, remove the basket and pop the cut up veg into the glass jug directly, make sure the water chamber on the side is filled and firmly place on the lid.  Turn on for the desired time and let the machine do the work for you.  If will beep when the time is finished and turn itself off.
You can then blend the soup directly in the glass jug without having to remove or do anything else.  Dependant on what soup you are making and what veg is in there (the pumpkin was very watery so needed very little liquid adding)  you then add your stock, just remove the small measurer on the top which leave a hole to pour your liquids into, replace the measurer, turn the machine back on and rotate the dial to the speed setting you require.  Now you have fresh home made soup and it will have taken you less than 20 minutes from start to finish.  Even better, you now only have one jug to wash up and because it is glass that is really easy to do!
You can also use this to make milk shakes, baby food and you can even crush ice in there!  Cleaning is just as easy with this and the whole jug lifts off the base, you can even unscrew the metal base to give it a very good clean out and to access the blades – this is something my old blender lacked and I would forever have food stuck in places I couldn’t reach.
This awesome machine is available to buy from many retailers including Very, John Lewis and Argos and is currently on offer for a rather reasonable £99!

I found that the pumpkin was very watery and together with the condensation from cooking I had a lot of water already in the jug so only added 200mls of Stock to our finished soup.  Our pumpkin cooked perfectly in 8 minutes and was fully blended within 1 minute.
Now I have used this steam blender I am completely converted, it is so quick, effortless and I now don’t need to say No to Emmy when she asks for homemade carrot soup for lunch as it doesn’t now take too long, and to test that out I made some at the weekend.  Homemade carrot and coriander soup in 15 minutes from start to finish.

It looks a little similar to the Thermomix, although nowhere near as expensive! Would have been great for weaning little ones.

I have never heard of one of these and now I must have one! The idea of an all-in-one steamer and blender really appeals to me, because, let's face it, I am super-lazy! ๐Ÿ˜€

Lol…that's why it appealed to me so much
