I’ve been really excited to enter this competition, I won’t lie to you – I want to win!
There I’ve said it, I probably shouldn’t have but now it’s out there I will tell you why, let me tell you a story.
Once upon a time many years ago, a young Nanny was working for a lovely family with 3 children, those children were 2 girls aged 3.5 years and 2 years and a baby boy.
All was well and the family booked a holiday.
They booked to go to Center Parcs – Elveden Forest, the parents, the children and their Nanny – you guessed it, me!
Very sadly weeks before the holiday the little boy got ill, infact he was very poorly. He had hydrocephalus (fluid on the brain). This meant he needed an operation to drain the fluid away from his brain.
During this operation the boy had a fit which left him paralysed down one side and needing to stay in hospital for a long period of time.
The father and I took the girls to see him in hospital on numerous occasions, during the weeks he was to stay in with his mother.
The time came for the holiday and to keep things normal for the girls their father and I took them. They had a wonderful time and we did our best to keep things normal for them so they enjoyed their break.
We swam, we went exploring, played outside, rode bikes and they LOVED it.
They smiled, they laughed, they sang and they had a wonderful time.
Now I would love to relive that again with my own children, without the sadness and worry.
I would love to take them to Elveden Forest and show them the wonders of Center Parcs as Center Parcs ambassadors for 2013/14
Here is my entry into the competition, our minute long video showing the things we love to do as a family:
Good luck to everyone entering. Sadly there will only be 12 winners so all we can do is join you all and cross everything, wait and see.
The little boy was fine in the end after intense physiotherapy and very good nurses/care he learnt to walk and does everything and anything now.
