Premium Meat Box to your door #Review

I’m not sure if you are like me but I’ve become disheartened with shopping for meat in the supermarkets.  It’s expensive, pumped with chemicals and dyes to make the meat the desired colour for the shopper and the choice in my local supermarket is rather poor.

For this reason I’ve mainly stopped buying meat in this way and try to visit my local butcher instead.  It adds to my shopping bill however the quality is better.  Recently I was sent a Premium Meat Box from Country Valley Foods to try out with our family and to see what we thought.

Inside the box were:

  • 2 x 6oz Grand Reserve centre cut sirloin steaks
  • 1 x 500g Pack of Grand Reserve Steak Mince
  • 1 x 1.3kg Whole Herb Fed Chicken or 1 Cornfed Chicken
  • 4 x 8oz Local Pork Sirloin Steaks
  • 2 x 8oz English Fresh Chicken Fillets
  • 4 x 4oz Grand Reserve Steak Burgers
  • 1 x 450g Pack of Riverside Thick Pork Sausages
  • 2 x 4 rib Grand Reserve French Trim Racks of Lamb

The Premium Meat Box is delivered in a foam lined box with 2 large ice packs inside.  It is delivered straight to your door for a special price of £45 instead of £50.

The products come with long dates meaning you can meal plan for the week or they can be home frozen and defrosted when you need them the night before.

Upon receipt of this box I was surprised at the portion sizes inside the box – the 2 chicken breasts fed us all – they were HUGE!

We have now eaten all of the contents and there wasn’t anything I disliked.  The quality was possibly the best I have had outside of a restaurant and even with me cooking they all tasted wonderful.

I will be adding a few recipes I cooked with the ingredients, I chose to make a sausage casserole with the sausages although they would also be really nice alone with mashed potatoes and steamed veg and the steak mince I used for Emmy’s favourite Shepherd’s pie.

Mine and Paul’s favourite meat item in this box was the Sirloin Steak, I cooked it on my OptiGrill with sauté potatoes and served on a bed on fresh spinach; mine cooked Medium and Paul’s well done.  It melted in the mouth and had very little fat on it so not much was wasted.

The chicken we received was the Corn fed variety which I roasted in the oven for a Sunday roast, it didn’t need any extra seasoning and was moist still once cooked, it was on the small side however since Emmy doesn’t eat meat (with the exception of Shepard’s pie, chicken nuggets and burgers) it easily fed the 3 of us.

For the convenience of having good quality meat delivered and not having to venture into town I would definitely have this Premium Meat Box delivered as a treat every now and then as it actually costs less than I usually spend in my butcher (for 2 large sirloin steaks, 4 burgers,8 sausages and a whole chicken I pay £34 alone).  This actually makes this Premium Meat Box very good value and contains over a weeks worth of dinners!
